Sources and Research

Editorial principles

Dates are included only where a source supports them. Differences between sources are recorded rather than silently reconciled. A later recollection is identified as such. Visible features in an image may inform a reading, but do not establish its medium, dimensions, title or provenance.

Existing website text and images are preserved in the site record. Descriptions inherited from that material are distinguished from independently corroborated catalogue data. This is a developing research archive, not a completed catalogue raisonné or an authentication service.

Open research questions

Priorities include the artists’ association’s founding chronology; Gallery 79’s complete programme and precise address; Bader’s teaching appointments; a signed bibliography of journalism; public-art commission and conservation records; and object-level dates, media, dimensions and provenance.

Names across languages

The artist appears in English sources as Issam Bader, Isam Bader and Issam Badr, and in Arabic as عصام بدر. These variants are retained in source titles to support research and identification.
