The Issam Bader Digital Archive brings together artwork reproductions, biographical research, publications and documentary references relating to the artist’s life and contribution to Palestinian art. Material held directly by this website is clearly distinguished from records preserved by museums, libraries, galleries and other external institutions.
Artwork reproductions
The Works collection currently presents twenty selected reproductions preserved from the earlier Issam Bader website. These images document paintings and ceramic works, but they do not constitute a complete catalogue of the artist’s production.
Some digital files may represent alternate photographs, crops or versions of the same work. A file count should therefore not be treated as an artwork count. Titles, dates, materials, dimensions, ownership and exhibition histories are included only where reliable documentation is available.
Portraits and visual records
The portrait below was preserved from the earlier website and is identified as an artistic portrait rather than a documentary photograph. Its artist and date have not yet been established.
Future additions may include family photographs, studio views, exhibition installations, teaching activities and images of Bader’s public artworks in their original architectural settings.
Books and exhibition catalogues
The archive documents Bader’s work as an author and researcher, particularly the publication on Palestinian visual art produced with Nabil Anani in 1983–1984. A video showing the publication is preserved on this website.
Later exhibition catalogues provide information about individual artworks and posthumous presentations. When a publication is held by another institution, this website links to the original record rather than presenting it as part of its own digital holdings.

Historical press and documentary records
Newspapers, journals and contemporary reports are essential for reconstructing Bader’s exhibitions, public artworks, teaching and institutional activity. They can also clarify differences between later biographical accounts and events documented at the time.
A 1982 issue of Shu’un Filastiniyya contains an important account of Bader’s public art and Gallery 79. A contemporary report in The Link documents the gallery’s closure. These remain external sources preserved by their respective libraries and publishers.

Information about Bader is distributed across museum collections, artist biographies, exhibition catalogues, cultural publications and research archives. These records help verify his education, exhibitions, association work, Gallery 79, public murals and posthumous legacy.

What remains to be documented
The archive is still developing. Important gaps include a complete catalogue of artworks, a dated solo-exhibition history, photographs of Gallery 79, records of teaching and workshops, correspondence, press clippings and documentation of the murals created for public buildings in Ramallah.
Unverified information is kept visible as a research question rather than presented as an established fact. Conflicting dates and accounts are recorded until stronger evidence allows them to be resolved.
Contribute to the archive
Family and studio photographs, exhibition invitations, posters, letters, sketches, catalogues, newspaper clippings, artwork records and photographs of public murals can help establish missing dates, locations and relationships.
